Primary areas of practice:

Tom Frenkel was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1953 and relocated to southern Illinois in 1970. Tom is admitted to practice before the courts of the states of Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Mr. Frenkelís practice is centered on civil litigation, primarily in matters of defense for personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home neglect, fire claims / arson defense, and matters of disputed insurance coverage. He is a member of the Defense Research Instituteís (DRIís) Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee and Nursing Home / Assisted Living Facility Litigation Sub-Committee.

Mr. Frenkel received his legal education at the Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Southern Illinois University Law Journal, with additional responsibility for the publication of commentaries in the Journal of Legal Medicine (a publication of the American College of Legal Medicine), and was the recipient of numerous awards and honors for scholarship and service. His legal education includes service in the judicial chambers of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, the office of the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, and the office of the Jackson County, Illinois, Stateís Attorney.

Mr. Frenkel has a diverse educational and business background. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physiology with a minor concentration in Chemistry from Southern Illinois University; has held certifications as an Emergency Medical Technician - Ambulance, as a licensed commercial pilot - single and multi-engine, as a certified flight instructor - aircraft and instrument, and as a scuba diver. He has over 25 yearsí business experience in the tourism and transportation industry and is also a past president of a large, multi-national travel industry trade association. His business-related education includes public relations and media training, which was conducted at Edelman Worldwide Public Relations and Fleishman-Hillard Public Relations, as well as extensive training in mid-range computer systems theory, programming, and operation which was received at International Business Machines in Creve Coeur, Missouri. Tom Frenkel has been featured in many interviews and appearances related to his business history, including The McLaughlin Group, CNN, and scores of network television, radio, and print publications.

Tom Frenkel is a member of the American, Illinois State, and Jackson County Bar Associations and the Transportation Lawyers Association, as well as a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International Foundation. He is a member of the Phi Delta Phi international legal fraternity, and listed on that organizationís Active Life Member Honor Roll. He and his wife Cindy, a nursing administrator, reside and have raised their family in Carbondale, Illinois.
